Dear all SY Members,

 

We have the privilege of presenting these two very interesting speakers at our next event which takes place in the Danish Shipowners Association.

 

Wednesday May 7th 2008 16:00 hrs

 

On the basis of their extensive experience & know-how within their field, they will give a speech on the above topic. They will start by giving a short introduction of them selves and their company. Thereafter they will comment on their thoughts & predictions on the challenges & opportunities that we are facing in the years to come.

 

Mr. Torben Janholt will represent the shipping industry. Mr. Janholt is the CEO of the Danish shipping company J. Lauritzen A/S and is at the same time Chairman of the Board for the Danish Shipowners Association. Mr. Janholt has been leading the successful turnaround which the Lauritzen Group has gone through. In year 2007 J. Lauritzen A/S achieved a net result of USD 342 million, which were the best result ever in the Group’s history. The company currently employs about 575 people and is controlling approximately 220 ships.  Mr. Janholt has profound experience with shipping and is a known personality within the industry both nationally as well as internationally.

 

Mr. Kurt Larsen is the CEO of the Danish freight forwarding company DSV. Mr. Larsen has been top executive since the beginning where DSV only operated very few trucks and primarily were located in Northern Europe, to today where DSV is one of the worlds largest freight forwarding companies employing 19,000 people with own operating activities in 50 countries world-wide. In year 2007 DSV had a turnover of DKK 34.9 billion and a net result of DKK 1.6 billion. DSV are listed in the OMXC20 index on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange, which is amongst the 20 most actively traded shares.
